Long-term partnership driven by sustainability and equality reaches new heights with E.ON Veloce Racing team
Veloce is delighted to announce that E.ON, one of the UK’s leading sustainable energy providers, is to become Title Partner to the British squad, renamed E.ON Veloce Racing, for the 2024 Extreme E series.
The partnership has been synonymous with sustainability since its inception, and has centred around Veloce’s involvement in the innovative Extreme E off-road racing championship, which uses its platform as a global electric motorsport to raise awareness of the climate crisis and sustainable solutions.
Extreme E also focuses on gender equality and represents a world-first in motorsport: the championship’s unique format, which requires one male and female driver per team, encourages equality of opportunity, with the 50:50 seat time proving fundamental in the development of exciting female talent.
E.ON’s ongoing efforts to create an inclusive workplace has seen the organisation named as one of the top ten most inclusive employers in the UK. The company will continue to apply this essential mindset to its work on diversity and equality with Veloce, having already supported projects such as Molly Taylor’s involvement in the FIA RX2e Championship in 2023.
The focus on presenting possible solutions to environmental and societal issues through Extreme E has proved the perfect stage for both Veloce and E.ON as they level up their collaboration to further inspire the next generation.
Daniel Bailey, CEO of Veloce Racing, said: “All of us at Veloce Racing are thrilled to be taking our partnership with E.ON to a whole new level for Extreme E Season 4. The collaboration has seen so much success already, and with E.ON as our Title Partner I can’t wait to see what we can achieve this year.
“E.ON continues to lead the way when it comes to sustainable energy solutions, and we will be using their expertise to create inspiring campaigns which focus on a greener and more positive future.
“Veloce's ambitions within the motorsport world support the same pillars as E.ON’s work in the energy sector, and as a pair we will continue to promote the importance of sustainable innovation and equality.”
Scott Somerville, Chief Marketing Officer at E.ON UK, added: “With three race wins across three continents last year – and third place success in the overall championship – Veloce are proving as successful in competition as they are in driving our shared agendas on essential topics like fighting the climate crisis and making even more progress towards equality and meaningful diversity.
“We are hugely excited to continue our ongoing relationship with Veloce Racing, and with Molly and Kevin proving their commitment both behind the wheel and supporting our joint efforts to reach a huge number of people and champion those shared values.”
Veloce’s most successful Extreme E campaign came last year when the London-based team tied for the most wins in the season with three X Prix victories, placing them third in the Season 3 championship standings.
The squad, who have retained the successful pairing of Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor for a second full campaign in 2024, will be looking to build on last year’s performance as they take on Season 4 with even more support from E.ON.
E.ON Veloce Racing heading into this year with E.ON as Title Partner highlights both parties’ commitment to an increased focus on showcasing the positive benefits the net zero transition will deliver for people and the planet .
E.ON is one of Europe’s leading energy companies and, with its sights set on supporting millions of customers on their own journey to a sustainable energy future, the company supports the same pillars of sustainability and equality as Veloce.
The two organisations will be taking their partnership to the next level in 2024, working together across exciting new activations and creating even more engaging content, all with the aim of raising awareness around racing technology, energy, and diversity.
E.ON will also have further access to the Veloce Media Group’s ever-increasing Web3, esports, and gaming audiences, allowing both parties to engage and inspire a younger audience on the topics of engineering, sustainability, and motorsport.
First up for E.ON Veloce Racing in what promises to be an electrifying year is the Extreme E season-opener, the Desert X Prix, in Saudi Arabia later this month (17-18 February).
