Securing back-to-back podium finishes at the Desert X Prix, E.ON Next Veloce Racing have set their sights on silverware in Scotland.

After a stellar performance at Extreme E’s Season 4 opening weekend in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, E.ON Next Veloce Racing heads to Scotland for Rounds Three and Four with high expectations. The back-to-back podium finishes in Rounds One and Two secured the team third place in the overall standings, only eight points behind the top spot.

After a few months away, E.ON Next Veloce drivers Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor have thoroughly prepared for the challenge that awaits in Scotland. The drivers intend to return to Veloce HQ, in London, as Championship leaders. Celebrating their home race in style, E.ON Next Veloce Racing will compete this weekend with a one-off livery, voted for by VEXT token holders.

At last year’s Hydro X Prix, the Veloce pair overcame a difficult Saturday to take a stunning victory in the Grand Final on Sunday. The promising opening round in Jeddah and strong result from the previous season make E.ON Next Veloce Racing one of the favourites approaching this weekend.

Kevin Hansen, E.ON Next Veloce Racing driver, said: “We’ve started this season in a strong way, as we currently sit in third place in the standings. So, I’m really looking forward to heading back out on track and seeing what we can do in Scotland this weekend. We had a great time at the Hydro X Prix last year, finishing at the top on Sunday, and I’m looking forward to trying to take home some more trophies this time out.

An important part of Extreme E for me, are the Legacy Projects that the Championship is involved in, as I know what a difference these can make to the local communities that we are racing in. I’ve recently been back to visit the Hydro X Prix Legacy Project and it was so great to see all the work that has been completed since our last visit a year ago. I’m really pleased that we’ll be able to visit the project again during the racing weekend.”

Molly Taylor, E.ON Next Veloce Racing driver, added: “I’m excited to be returning to Scotland this week, we have some happy memories from the Hydro X Prix in Season 3. So, it’s great to be heading back again this year and hopefully we’ll be on the podium again. The opening rounds of this season were really positive for us as a team, so we’ll be looking to repeat that form at the upcoming races and continue to push forward in the Championship.

The Hydro X Prix is a home race for us with the Veloce offices, and a lot of the team, based in the UK, so we really want to make it a special occasion. As part of this we’re running a one-off livery, that was voted for by VEXT token holders, and I cannot wait to see it in the metal when we hit the track, I think it’s going to really stand out.”

Adding another level of motivation for the E.ON Next Veloce drivers, a brand-new livery will be announced as a special “one-off” for the Hydro X Prix, voted for by VEXT token holders. VEXT allows token holders to directly influence decisions by the Veloce Media Group, including its Extreme E team.

As well as influencing livery decisions, token holders are also able to transact across games and interactive sports features, with rewards such as tokens, early access to merchandise, and experience of real-world events.

Daniel Bailey, CEO and Co-Founder of Veloce, said: “The Hydro X Prix holds a special place in our memories, not only is it Veloce’s home race, but we also finished on the top step in one of the Grand Finals in Scotland last season, so we’re really thrilled to be heading back. Molly and Kevin, alongside the rest of the team, worked extremely hard in the opening rounds of Season 4 and we head into Scotland in a really strong position. We need to maintain this momentum now and look to maximise our potential throughout this upcoming weekend so that we can continue to push in the team standings.

At Veloce we have our fans at the centre of everything we do, and this weekend is no different, as we will be running a special livery that was voted for by VEXT token holders. We’re really proud that we’re able to offer such exclusive access to our Extreme E team to our fans and I’m looking forward to seeing the winning livery out on track.”

As part of Extreme E’s mission to champion a brighter and more sustainable future, last year E.ON Next Veloce racing participated in the Hydro X Prix Legacy Project. Continuing to support the Nith District Salmon Fishery Board, the Legacy Project has made a proactive attempt to stop the declining rate of young Atlantic salmon smolts as they leave the river.

Swapping his overalls for waterproofs Kevin Hansen returned to the Hydro X Prix Legacy Project last month to see the impact of the initiative over the last year. Whilst there, he got stuck in with a number of activities including; electrofishing (to monitor the population), ‘Kick Sampling’ (understanding the river’s health) and ‘Willow Spilling’ (rebuilding the riverbank). You can watch a highlights video of their trip here.

The first race begins on Saturday, 13 July, and the E.ON Next Veloce Racing drivers, Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor, will be fully focused on taking the #5 ODYSSEY 21 to the front of the field.
