Molly Taylor returns to FIA RX2e Championship with E.ON Next Veloce Racing
Molly Taylor is set to compete in two rounds of the FIA RX2e Championship as her collaboration with Veloce Racing’s partner E.ON Next continues to drive opportunities for women in sport.
Molly Taylor will be racing in RX2e – the all-electric support series for the FIA World Rallycross Championship – as part of the Hansen Motorsport junior team #YellowSquad.
The RX2e championship is scheduled across four rounds for 2024, with the opening round taking place in Höljes, Sweden, next weekend (6-7 July). Taylor will be entering the rallycross action at the season-opener, before returning to the fray for the season finale in Montalegre, Portugal (7-8 September).
Taylor’s 2024 RX2e campaign represents a continuation from last year, when she made her debut in the championship. With the support of E.ON and #YellowSquad, Taylor took to the track at Mettet in Belgium (August 5-6), before competing in the championship showdown at Estering in Germany (August 19-20).
E.ON’s commitment to promoting equality remains steadfast, with continued support for Molly through both the Veloce Racing Extreme E team and her own personal racing development. That support spearheads a wider commitment to equality by the brand and ensures the energy transition is a force for good that benefits all of society.
Molly Taylor, E.ON Next Veloce Racing and #YellowSquad driver, said: “I’m delighted to be driving in RX2e once again for two races this season and I want to say a huge thank you to E.ON Next for their continued support of my racing career. It’s great to be working with my Extreme E teammate Kevin Hansen and it's an opportunity to hone my race craft with Hansen Motorsport and the #Yellowsquad team. I had my first taste of rallycross last season, and I learnt a lot, so I’m looking forward to putting everything I experienced last season back into practice."
Daniel Bailey, Chief Executive Officer at Veloce, said: “It’s great that E.ON Next are continuing their support of Molly’s racing by giving her the opportunity to compete in an additional two races this year. It’s a good chance for her to jump back into the RX2e car and practice her race craft, whilst working alongside her Extreme E teammate Kevin. We work closely with E.ON throughout the year to align our diversity and inclusion efforts, and this is just one of many initiatives that we are collaborating with them on to help promote their women in sport campaign.”
Currently in contention for the Extreme E title alongside teammate Kevin Hansen – having taken two podiums at the season-opening Desert X Prix with E.ON Next Veloce Racing – Taylor’s return to the #YellowSquad team positions her within the Hansen Motorsport network.
Taylor will be looking to build upon the legacy of females both within rallycross and within the Hansen team. Susann Hansen, Manager for the Hansen World RX Team, became the first and so-far only female to win a European Rallycross title when she secured the 1400 Cup crown in 1994.
Lining up in Höljes in the single-specification, 270kW, four-wheel-drive all-electric RX2e machine sporting the distinctive E.ON colours, Taylor will join full-time #YellowSquad driver Isak Sjökvist, who enters the 2024 season having finished second in the 2023 RX2e championship standings.
The FIA RX2e series will be supporting four rounds of the FIA World Rallycross Championship for 2024, in Sweden, Hungary (27-28 July), Belgium (17-18 August) and Portugal, with Taylor competing at the opening and closing rounds.
